Quad copters got this fancy title ‘drone’ and over the recent years, these little flyers got really popular all across the world. Though the initial purpose was mostly to get the cinematographers an elevated view or to get the law enforcers a better spying angle; however now there are drones for everyone.
Here’s a list of 5 top drones for sale of 2015, and brief reviews on them.
DJI Phantom 3 (Standard)
For people in the entry to mid-level expertise, a DJI Phantom 3 would be the best cinematography drone to begin with. The DJI Phantom 3 Standard edition has a stabilized camera that’s capable of shooting 1080p HD videos at 30 fps and slightly faster 60 fps videos at 720p resolution. However, the camera has 4k video shooting capability at 30 fps – that’s what this drone is popular for. DJI Go app for smartphones make flying this drone easier than most other drones. There are features like auto takeoff and land, Follow Me etc. Price – $675.99.
The rounded camera on DJI Inspire is mounted on a GoPro like gimbal, but the camera footages are sometimes even better than the ones a GoPro Hero 4 would shoot. Undoubtedly, this is the best drone for cinematography and meant for the pros. The viewing angle is 125 degrees and it can rotate 360 degrees; once the drone is up in the air anything could be captured. With DJI Go mobile app, it’s easy to operate the drone like a pro. Available video resolutions are 4k at 30 fps and 1080p HD at 60 fps. Photos are captured at 12 megapixels. Price – $2669.
3D Robotics Iris+
This drone is meant for the pros, but not the cinematographers. Anyone with enthusiasm for remote controlled flying machines is welcome to have their hands on, the price tag is very compelling but not cheap. It has a USB interface to program a flight plan beforehand, even there’s option for a GoPro camera which doesn’t come in the packaging by default. GPS guidance on this drone makes the flight very pleasant. Price – $735.
The UDI U818A is solely intended for the beginners. This is a plain drone with no fancy equipment, just the basic elements required for a stable flight. There’s no fancy camera, only a VGA shooter and even the whole frame is made of plastic. The build quality is good, at least small crashes won’t wreck the drone completely. The rotors are protected by plastic loop style frames. Price – $47.99.
Axis Aerius Drone
Aerius is the tiniest drone among all these. It comes for a very inexpensive price tag and the design and outlook is irresistibly cute. Maybe your toddler could use it as a toy, or even the grown adults can have fun with this. There are LED lights for flight indicator and that’s all – there’s no camera. Price – $35. One of the best drone under $100.
Drones are fun and very much useful for their professional purposes. However, before attempting to buy and fly one, ensure the legal procedures in your regions as flying drones are prohibited without permit in many areas.
