Chocolate Health Benefits

We all know how mouth-watering chocolate can be, but did you know that other than that, it also has some really good health benefits?

A lot of people make have this misconception about chocolate where they think that just because it is one of the key ingredients in desserts it has to be equivalent to fat and carbs.

But that is so “Not True”.

People like to buy chocolate and sometimes even get chocolate by post delivered to them because it is such an indulgent treat with benefits. So, here are a few of those benefits of chocolate discussed.

One of the few things that you should keep in mind when it comes to chocolate is that the darker it is, the more beneficial it is for you. Dark chocolate, or the one that is bitter in taste, has a higher cocoa content, which makes it really nutritious.

You know all those jokes people make about chocolate being a salad because its main ingredient, cocoa, grows on trees? Well, this is what its underlying meaning meant. A bar of dark chocolate with say 70-85 per cent of cocoa has around 11 grams of fibre, which is great for digestion.

Another great thing about dark chocolate is that it is filled with antioxidants, which are great for your skin. So if you are trying to brighten your dull skin or are fighting with acne, then try adding dark chocolate into your diet. Not a whole lot, but in a moderate amount.

Dark chocolate also stimulates the lining of the arteries to produce nitric oxide, which is a gas that sends signals to the arteries to relax, which in turn reduces the resistance to blood flow and results in a reduction in blood pressure.

Chocolate is also said to contain a substance that makes the consumer happy. So, if you are having a bad day or suffering from mood swings, then tear open a bar and enjoy some of that delicious chocolate because you have earned it.

Dark chocolate, consumed in moderation, also showed the results of reduction in cholesterol, which means that it helps in reducing the risk of a heart attack, or any other kind of heart problems.

Like I mentioned above, chocolate, especially dark chocolate has some really good health benefits, but one needs to keep in mind that these health benefits will apply to you only when you consume this product in moderation.

So, if a 100-gram bar of chocolate has 11 grams of fibre in total, but there are other ingredients like sugar, caffeine, and fats in that 100-gram chocolate bar.

So, if you end up eating the whole thing in one sitting, then it will do you more harm than good. That is why you should remember, moderation is good because too much of a good thing can be bad for you.

Remember these few things the next time you are eating your chocolate, and stay healthy and eat healthy.
