One of the largest agglomerations in Europe, Paris is located in the north of France on the beautiful and iconic river Seine. The city has reputation of being the most romantic of all cities. It brims with profound history and is very influential in the fields of art, fashion, culture, food and design.

Rightly known as the Capital of Fashion, Paris houses some of the finest and most luxurious designer stores. Some of the big names include Chanel, Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent, Lancôme, L’Oréal, Clarins and Guerlain. Most of Paris is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Next to Tokyo, Paris has the highest number of restaurants in the world. The city boasts of some iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre Museum, the Notre-Dame Cathedral, Lido and Moulin Rouge.

Paris is divided into twenty districts called arrondissements. These arrondissements are numbered from one to twenty in a clockwise manner from the centre which is referred to as Kilometre Zero and is in front of Notre Dame.

Every arrondissement in Paris has its unique charm and character. Let’s look a little into the arrondissements of Paris.

1st Arrondissement is the centre of modern Paris and is the perfect starting point for travellers. Some of the best landmarks include Louvre, the Jardin des Tuileries, Les Halles, Comédie-Française and Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel.

The 2nd arrondissement is situated on the right bank of the Seine River and forms the central business district of the city. Théâtre des Variétés, the Bourse, Opéra-Comique, Passage des Panoramas, Théâtre des BouffesParisiens and the former BibliothèqueNationale are situated here.

3rd Arrondissement is on the right bank of Seine and comprises the Former Temple fortress, MuséeCarnavalet, Conservatoire des Arts etMétiers and Hôtel de Soubise.

4th Arrondissement is bordered by the 1st, 3rd, 11th, 5th, 4th and 12th arrondissements and river Seine. Landmarks include Notre-Dame de Paris, the Hôtel de Ville, Rue des Rosiers and the Jewish Quartier, Centre Georges Pompidou, l’atelier Brancusi, Place des Vosges, Saint-Jacques Tower and Parisian island Île Saint-Louis can be found here.

5th arrondissement located on the left bank of the River Seine, it is one of the central arrondissements of the capital. Quartier Latin, a district that is home to numerous colleges, universities and prestigious high schools is located in this arrondissement. Jardin des Plantes, Muséum National d’HistoireNaturelle, The Panthéon and Église Saint-Séverin are situated here.

In the 6th arrondissement are Jardin du Luxembourg, Place Saint-Michel, Église Saint-Sulpice and Saint-Germain des Prés.

The famous 7th arrondissement is most famous for housing the Eiffel Tower among other places like EcoleMilitaire, Les Invalides, Musée d’Orsay, Assemblée Nationale and Le Bon Marché.

8th arrondissement comprises Champs-Élysées, Arc de Triomphe, le Palais de l’Elysée and Place de la Concorde.

OpéraGarnier, MuséeGrévin, Galeries Lafayette and FoliesBergère can be found in the 9th arrondissement.

In the 10th arrondissement are places like Canal Saint-Martin, Gare de l’Est, Gare du Nord and Porte Saint-Denis found.

You can check out the cool restaurants and pubs of New Jewish Quarter and Cirque d’Hiver among others in the 11th arrondissement.

Opéra Bastille, Quartier d’Aligre, Gare de Lyon and Cimetière de Picpus are located in the 12th arrondissement whereas Quartier la Petite Asie and La Butte aux Cailles are parts of the 13th arrondissement.

Places like Cimetière du Montparnasse, Gare Montparnasse, La Santé Prison and CitéInternationaleUniversitaire de Paris are housed in the 15th arrondissement.

Palais de Chaillot, Musée de l’Homme, Cimetière de Passy and the Bois de Boulogne are parts of the 16th arrondissement.

The 17th arrondissement comprises Palais des Congrès and Place de Clichy.

The famous 18th arrondissement includes the famous Sacré-Cœur, Montmartre and Église Saint-Jean-de-Montmartre Pigalle top.

Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, Parc de la Villette, Canal de l’Ourcq and Bassin de la Villette are situated in the 19th arrondissement.

The 20th arrondissement comprises Parc de Belleville and quartiers Belleville.
